DESCRIPTION
Workshop A of the Miami Science Barge Sustainable Fishing Series will teach participants about South Florida’s lionfish invasion and what can be done to help mitigate its effects. A representative from Florida Keys nonprofit REEF will present on invasive Lionfish, basic collecting and handling techniques, and follow up with a dissection and filleting demonstration.
Participants will leave the event with the fresh lionfish fillets that they cleaned as well as the necessary tools to begin removing lionfish on their own.
This is the first workshop in a series sponsored by Fish Florida. All participants must be over the age of 13 to participate and must sign a waiver (or have a parent/guardian sign a waiver) at the door. Participants under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Hello 6th and 7th graders,
If you need a few more hours, make sure to sign up with PTSA (Mr. Gillis) in order to volunteer at the upcoming South Beach Triathlon 2017. The event will be on April 2nd. Volunteers need to arrive EARLY to help w/ the setup!!! See Mr. Gillis to sign up and receive complete details!
Interested in volunteering for the Miami Beach Half Marathon?
The event is Sunday March 5!
The race starts around 6:00 AM and ends around noontime. Volunteers will receive 8 HOURS of volunteer time. If interested please sign up w/ Mr. Gillis (PTSA). Mr.Gillis will give you all necessary information (where to meet, where to park, etc).

It’s so exciting to see that Curry will be participating in this year’s Miami Marathon! We are volunteers for the FULL MARATHON and will be helping at WATER STATIONS S, T, and U!
If you are a volunteer, please read/download your corresponding manual. The manual has extremely useful information (where to park, what to wear, food, times, etc). The first page of each packet includes the roster of volunteers that corresponds to that Tent/Location.
