Summer Reading Information

In adhering to the School Board of Miami-Dade County, Lamar Louise Curry Middle School is participating in the Summer Reading Program to “provide students with an opportunity for growth by ensuring that students continue to strengthen reading skills and develop a passion for reading.” Research shows that a break from school activities often causes students to experience a lag in learning upon returning to school in the fall.

To lessen this effect, the Language Arts department is requiring every student to select one novel of choice from the attached Sunshine State Young Readers Award Books list for Grades 6-8 and complete a novel book report before August 29, 2022. Students will use the link https://forms.office.com/r/WZBWg4VXjP to complete the book report online.

Additionally, we encourage your child to take the opportunity to read additional novels provided for free on the http://read.dadeschools.net website to continue developing “a love for reading.”
