Miami-Dade County’s Regulatory and Economic Resources Department will be giving FREE trees to the community through its popular Adopt-a-Tree program. Come to the Saturday event on July 27, 2013 from 9:00 am – 12 pm, at the Harrison Field Pavilion, 1034 NE 8 St., Homestead. Residents eligible to adopt trees will be able to choose from Mango (only 1 per household), Sugar Apple, Paradise Tree, Mulberry, and Inkwood. However, tree quantities are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. For information on rules, eligibility, community service hours, and tree info check the Adopt-a-Tree webpage.

Also at this event, the Miami-Dade County Water & Sewer Department and Office of Sustainability will be exchanging up to 3 regular light bulbs for compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) as well as high efficiency showerheads to those residents who bring their old showerheads and/or their most heavily used regular light bulbs to the event (while supplies last). For more info call 311.
